Michigan - Center for Family Health - AEGD

The Center for Family Health, an independent federally qualified health center, has served residents of Jackson County, Michigan, and the surrounding area since 1991.  The Center’s mission, “opening the door to health care for all,” is achieved in partnership with patients and community partners. With over 30 years of service to the community, the Center provides high-quality comprehensive medical, behavioral health, and dental services with a focus on community health and underserved populations.

The Center for Family Health provides evidence and risk-based dental care to patients at its downtown location, which was built in 2016 and is located on the main floor, featuring 22 operatories and modern equipment. Center dentists engage in treatment planning that considers patients’ oral conditions as well as oral health literacy, engagement, and life circumstances to help them achieve a stable state of oral health.

The Center will enable two dental residents to gain experience working as a member of a health-care team, collaborating with medical providers, community health workers, fellow dentists, and hygienists to provide their patients comprehensive care. Residents work with trained dental assistants to provide examinations, x-rays, cleanings, fluoride treatments, sodium diamine fluoride application, sealants, restorative treatment, extractions and removable prosthetics. Residents will additionally perform specialized procedures including endodontic therapy, fixed prosthodontics and surgical procedures, to meet the requirements of NYU Langone’s dental accredited AEGD program.
