Train in collaboration with medical and clinical teams: NYU Langone Dental Medicine's Advanced Education in Pediatric Dentistry program in Missouri offers a unique experience unlike traditional hospital or university based pediatric dentistry programs. Residents receive their pediatric dental clinical training, serving the community by caring for patients in community health centers in collaboration with medical staff. Affiliated hospitals provide hospital and medical rotations required for specialty training. Throughout the first and second year, residents will be assigned to work on general anesthesia cases at Jordan Valley Community Health Center and Cox Hospital and Mercy Hospital in Springfield. Oral conscious sedation cases are completed at Jordan Valley Community Health Center. Residents will have the opportunity to work with orthodontists and oral surgeons. The anesthesia portion of the residency program is completed seeing pediatric dental cases and working one-on-one with an anesthesiologist. Residents will have the opportunity to work with multiple complex special needs patients giving them the opportunity to work in a family-centered care team model to deliver oral health care. Literature review, resident meetings, and other didactic assignments, which include presentations, may be assigned on weekends or after clinical hours. NYU Langone Dental Medicine Missouri is pleased to offer a rigorous and competitive advanced training pediatric dentistry experience.
