Application Requirements

TOEFL iBT
- Scores must be valid (not expired) and taken within two years of the program start date.
- Official scores must be sent directly through the TOEFL portal to B829 – NYU Hospitals Center – Dental Residencies.

Official Transcript
- An official dental school transcript is required.
- An ECE or WES evaluation is required for transcript verification.

Recommendation Letters / Personal Evaluation Forms (PEFs)
- Three (3) clinical recommendation letters are required.
- Two (2) letters must be from Operative/Restorative faculty who supervised your clinical work and can evaluate your general dentistry skills.
- One (1) letter may come from specialty faculty who can attest to your clinical skills.
- If you have graduated and are currently employed, at least one recommendation must come from a dentist who has directly observed your clinical abilities within the last six months.
- Letters must be written on official school and/or company letterhead and signed by the evaluator with all faculty appointments and professional titles included.

Dean's Letter
- Must be sent directly from the Dean through the application portal, emailed directly from a dental school email address on official letterhead, or released to NYU via a school portal.

Resume / Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Include your address, phone number, and email address.
- List all academic institutions attended, including start and end dates.
- Graduates must list all activities from dental school graduation through the date of application.
- If there are any gaps in employment or education, explain the reason for each gap.

National Dental Board Examination Scores
- NBDE: Accepted but not required.
- INBDE: Accepted but not required.
Dental Licensure or Permit Requirements
- Applicants must be eligible for dental licensure in the states where they will train. Certain states require a permit or restricted (temporary) dental license allowing practice only within the scope of the residency program and assigned training site.

Immigration Sponsorship
Program participants must provide documentation of identity and U.S. work authorization valid for the duration of the program in accordance with Form I-9 requirements.
- Failure to maintain valid U.S. work authorization for the duration of the program will result in termination and no certificate of completion will be issued.
- Applicants using an Employment Authorization Document (EAD), including F-1 students participating in Optional Practical Training (OPT), should ensure they can independently maintain work authorization for the entire residency.
- H-1B sponsorship is not available.
- TN sponsorship is available for eligible applicants under the provisions of NAFTA/USMCA for the Dentist profession.
