California provides endless choices for exploration and recreational pursuits through its beautiful beaches, magnificent mountains, world-renown vineyards, and giant redwood forests. Special adventures include visiting Disneyland and Hollywood, camping in the Muir Woods, and shopping on Rodeo Drive. California offers residents many opportunities to dive into U.S. culture and explore the American landscape. NYU Langone Dental Medicine has numerous partners in California, including the University of California San Francisco, covering a wide geographic area spanning as far north as Shasta Lake County and as far south as San Diego County.  In 2019, 11.8% of people in California had incomes below the poverty line ($25,926 for a family of four) and 13.0% of people under age 65 and below 138% of the poverty line did not have health insurance. NYU Langone Dental Medicine and its health center partners help to ensure equitable and affordable dental care while enhancing and honing the skills of postdoctoral dental practitioners.
