NYU Langone Dental Medicine's Dental Anesthesiology team attends their annual American Society of Dentist Anesthesiologists Conference in April 2023!
The ASDA annual meeting was held in New Orleans, LA from April 20-22, 2023, at the Hyatt Regency. On Friday evening April 21st, a reception and small buffet was held for NYU Langone (as well as LMC) residents, alumni, and attendings- over 40 were in attendance! As of June 30, 2023, we will have graduated 70 residents since beginning the program in 2008. Of currently active dental anesthesiology residencies, only Pittsburgh has a greater number of graduates – and their residency began in 1949!
On Wednesday, April 19th, all five third-year dental anesthesiology residents took the Written Examination to begin their Board Certification process. Additionally, five previous residents that have passed their written examination will be taking the final step of their board certification process, the oral examination, in June 2023.
NYU Langone is particularly well represented on the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology (ADBA), the organization that confers board-certified status on dentist anesthesiologists. Program Director, Dr. Charles Azzaretti, is a previous member of the Board of Directors of the ADBA. Also, dental anesthesiology attending, Dr. Jason Brady, is a past president of the ADBA.
Associate Program Director, Dr. Kenneth Reed, is currently on the Board of Directors and serves as Secretary. Attendings in the dental anesthesiology residency, Dr. Sonia Kumar, is currently on the Board of Directors and serves as the Vice President of Written Examinations. Dr. Andrea Fonner is currently on the Board of Directors and serves as the Immediate Past President of the ADBA. We are also proud to announce that NYU Langone alumnus, Dr. Roy Hooks, was elected to the ADBA Board of Directors at the 2023 ADBA Annual Diplomate Meeting. Congratulations to each of these leaders in their field!
