Maryland - Chesapeake Health Care - PEDS

The NYU Langone Dental Medicine Advanced Education in Pediatric Dentistry program’s Princess Anne, MD site is affiliated with Chesapeake Health Care (CHC), a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) located on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. CHC offers integrated clinical services in Dentistry, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Mental Health, and Obstetrics and Gynecology, primarily serving patients from Wicomico, Worcester, and Somerset counties. This is the program’s first training location on the Eastern Shore.

The Princess Anne site emphasizes pediatric sedation, general anesthesia, community outreach, and advocacy. Residents gain experience well beyond CODA accreditation requirements, managing moderate sedation and general anesthesia cases in both clinical and hospital-based settings. Clinical training occurs at a large, modern facility in Princess Anne and a smaller, private-practice-style clinic in Salisbury.

Residents also rotate through pediatric medicine at Tidal Health Hospital and Surgery Center and participate in craniofacial team meetings and other specialty rotations that enhance their interdisciplinary education. Under the supervision of pediatric dentists within the health center and orthodontists in a private office, residents provide comprehensive oral health care to children and adolescents throughout the region. Resident have the opprtunity to teach other medical professionals in the community.
