What is the mission of your training site?
As a community health center with deep roots in the Treasure Valley, we provide affordable, accessible, comprehensive care to meet the needs of the community. We will assure equal access to affordable health and wellness services to address health disparities and the impact of social injustices creating health equity for all.As a training site, we strive to provide a supportive and engaging learning environment for our residents. We want them to have plenty of exposure to both traditional and innovative modalities of care, with a diverse patient base.

What types of dental services can I expect to perform?
Exams, Simple and complex direct restorations, Oral surgery, endodontics, Fixed and removable prosthodontics (no complete dentures), minor periodontal surgery and urgent care.

What types of technologies can I expect to use?
Integrated electronic health record, digital x-rays, rotary/reciprocating endodontics, soft tissue lasers, intra-oral scanning

What is the patient population?
We have a diverse patient population, in both urban and rural settings. While approximately 60% are on Medicaid, one hour you could be treating a homeless patient, and the next hour seeing a millionaire rancher. Some sites have a higher concentration of migrant seasonal farmworkers and international refugees.

What is life like outside of the training site?
The Treasure Valley has grown considerably in recent years, and Boise has been in the top tier of the “Best places to live in the U.S” for over a decade. With a relatively mild climate and over 200 days of sunshine, it’s easy to always find something to do in the great outdoors. Foodies will find plenty to keep their palates entertained as well. As a small college town, there’s always something going on; live music, shows, sports, etc. The are has still managed to preserve it’s small town vibe, and is a great place to raise a family.

Will residents have the opportunity to restore and/or place implants at your training site?
We are working on adding implant restorations to our scope and expect this to be available by when the program starts.

Will residents treat children in your training site?
Over 80% of our patients are adults, and we do have the opportunity to treat children as well.
