What is the mission of your training site?
Salud Family Health is a Federally Qualified Health Center with a clear purpose: deliver high-quality, integrated healthcare to those who need it most. We are deeply committed to caring for low-income and medically underserved populations, including migrant and seasonal farm workers.
Our model emphasizes whole-person care by integrating medical, dental, behavioral health, and pharmacy services under one roof, allowing residents to experience truly comprehensive, team-based healthcare delivery.
What types of dental services can I expect to perform?
Residents provide full-scope general dentistry in a high-need, high-impact environment, including:
- Preventive and diagnostic care
- Pediatric dentistry
- Restorative dentistry
- Endodontics
- Periodontics
- Fixed and removable prosthodontics
- Oral surgery
- Hands-on experience restoring dental implants
Residents also benefit from monthly hands-on experience working with an endodontist on endodontic cases and practicing alongside pediatric dentists. The endodontist will also lead monthly case and literature reviews with residents. This breadth of care ensures residents graduate with strong clinical confidence and competence in all aspects of dentistry.
What types of technologies can I expect to use?
Residents train on modern, advanced technology that prepares them for the future of dentistry:
- Cone Beam CT (CBCT) imaging
- Dental lasers
- Endodontic microscope
- Digital intraoral scanners
- Milling machines
- 3D printers
This combination of technology and high clinical volume provides an ideal environment to refine both technical and diagnostic skills.
What is the patient population?
Salud serves a diverse, mission-driven patient base that focuses on low-income, medically underserved populations. We provide comprehensive care to patients of all ages, while half of our patients are under the age of 18 years old.
Colorado's Medicaid coverage for adults, combined with state funding for uninsured seniors, means residents gain a rare breadth of experience: from newborns to grandparents, across a wide range of complex medical and social backgrounds. Residents won't just be treating teeth; they will be making a real difference.
What is life like outside of the training site?
Life in Colorado is pretty incredible and means living in one of the most desirable regions in the country:
- The Rocky Mountains — World-class skiing, snowboarding, hiking, mountain biking, and fresh mountain air right in your backyard. Year-round adventure awaits.
- 300 Days of Sunshine — Colorado's four-season climate means you get it all: powder days in winter and trail days in summer, with barely a gray sky in between.
- A Thriving Food Scene — From 48 Michelin-recognized restaurants to Denver Restaurant Week every spring to the legendary Food & Wine Classic in Aspen, your palate will never be bored.
- Red Rocks Amphitheatre — Need we say more? One of the most iconic concert venues on the planet with unmatched acoustics is practically in your neighborhood.
Will residents have the opportunity to restore and/or place implants at your training site?
All residents do restore dental implants directly in our clinics, and through our partnership with a local surgical institute, patients receive implants at discounted rates. Residents are also welcome to observe and shadow implant placement at the surgical institute at no cost.
Will residents treat children in your training site?
Yes, residents will gain lots of experience in actively treating pediatric patients, who make up roughly half of our population.
Additionally, on-site pediatric dentists help serve this population.
