San Juan Physician Correctional Services was created in 2005 in response to the pressing needs of all inmates -- adult and young adults, sentenced and pre-trial detainees -- under the custody of the Administration of Corrections of Puerto Rico to access and receive an integrated array of physical, dental and mental health care services in compliance with the required national and federal standards. The correctional population suffers from multiple health conditions that often deteriorate during the state of confinement. Both the constitutions of the United States and Puerto Rico guarantee access and delivery of health care services to the entire correctional population. San Juan Physician Correctional Services has a clear commitment with both quality and excellence in order to guarantee that all dental, mental and physical health services provided to all inmates are in full compliance with the highest standards of the healthcare industry.
