What is the mission of your training site?
Caring for the Columbia Basin in the heart of Eastern Washington, CBHA has been providing equal access to quality health care to all since the early 1970s. CBHA is a federally qualified community health center, providing a wide range of services including dental, family medicine, pediatrics, OB/GYN services, integrated mental health and substance abuse, vision and pharmacy services.
The organization saw 34,645 unduplicated patients in 2017 across all lines of service. In the dental clinics, CBHA dentists and hygienists delivered care to over 48,241 total patient visits. Dentists are trained in a wide variety of services including orthodontics and implant procedures as well as pediatric dentistry, endodontics, and periodontics. CBHA is known for its state-of-the-art facilities. The newly constructed Othello Clinic offers 20 operatories and technological advances such as on-site crown fabrication with the use of a new CEREC system. The agricultural diversity in the area is truly unique and offers opportunities to explore farmers’ markets and wine tasting. It is a great place to explore the outdoors – locals appreciate hiking, boating, biking, camping.
Will residents have the opportunity to restore and/or place implants at your training site?
Residents will have extensive learning opportunities in both restoration and placement of implants at Columbia Basin Health clinics. Residents obtain implant-focused mentoring and training from two faculty with enhanced post-doctoral training in implantology.
Will residents treat children in your training site?
CBHA welcomes children for treatment. However, the focus of the residency program is not pediatric dentistry. CBHA pediatric dentists partner locally with Othello Community Hospital to provide surgical care for complex pediatric patients.
